In this publication, Emporiki
Bank invites the reader to a journey in time in the town of Nauplion and its
surrounding area through the travellers´ writings and illustrations. Nauplion
was a popular destination for travellers from the16th century onwards, thanks
to its natural beauty and its important role in the political history of the
newly founded Greek state. Various aspects of the history and iconography of
the town are examined through the rich iconographic material that illustrates
the book. It consists of a series of engravings, watercolours and
oil-paintings, that belong to private collections as well as Greek and German
museums.
