Frequently asked questions

  • How does the interest rate reward program work?
This program is for the rebate of interest paid based on the volume of transactions on the card in the timeframe of a calendar quarter (three months). Both purchases and cash advance transactions are calculated. If at the end of each calendar quarter you have made transactions on your card which are greater than the particular card category (see tables above), then you will receive an interest rate rebate for the sum entitled. The same offer may apply to the following quarters according to the volume of card transactions.
  • How is the transaction quarter defined?
The definition of the quarter (i.e., consecutive three month period) is calendar-based and is the same for everyone. In other words, the interest rate reduction is defined in January, April, July and October each year, based on the volume of card transactions in the preceding quarter.
  • Which transactions qualify? Are balance transfers included in the transaction volume?
Purchases and cash advances carried out during the relevant time frames are eligible and are considered for the transaction category levels. Amounts added from balance transfers are not counted as transactions. If you have undertaken a balance transfer, only new activity will be considered as transactions during the relevant time frame.
  • What about interest-free payment instalments?
Purchases made with interest-free instalments are considered in the entire transaction amount on the date the transaction is made.
  • How can I find out about my status in the program?
On your monthly account statement. If the customer has reached the relevant transaction volume, s/he will get a notice regarding the reward received.

ANNUAL CARD FEE WAIVER PROGRAM

Earn the right to a lifetime annual card fee waiver based on the yearly volume of transactions on your card.

In addition,

For new customers, the card fee is waived for the entire first year.

FAQ

  • How does the annual card fee waiver program work?
If you are already a cardholder of one of the Emporiki Cards listed below, you are automatically entered into the fee waiver program based on the volume of transactions undertaken during the previous 12 month period .

Card (whether a “Health Benefit” card or not) Transaction Volume / 12-month
VISA / VISA Electron € 6,000
VISA-Classic
MΑSTERCARD
ANT1-VISA
€ 10,000
VISA-Gold € 20,000

  • How is the 12-month period defined?
The 12-month period is individually tailored to each cardholder’s account and is defined from the date of the annual card fee renewal. For example, if the annual card fee appears on your statement of October 2009, the 12-month period is defined as the period from October 2008 to September 2009.
  • What happens with same number cards?
If the main card is entitled to free annual card fee according to the program, then the additional same number card will also enjoy the free annual card fee, so the customer is double-benefited since he/she does not have to pay an annual card fee for any of the cards. As far as the required annual volume is concerned transactions from both cards are accounted for.
  • If the customer is late making one of the monthly payments, does he /she still get the privileges of the program?
In case the account is in arrears on the date of the annual subscription renewal date, then the annual card fee amount is charged to his cards. If the customer shows up and complains about the annual card fee having first made the delayed payment, then the applicable charge reversal procedure may be followed. The reasoning for the reversal procedure may be worded as “based on the 12-month volume of transactions”.
  • How can the customer be informed on his status on the program?
    Through the monthly account statement
